Licensing: What’s the difference & why is it important?
Knowledge. Experience. License.
PV systems should be installed by an appropriately licensed contractor. This means that your solar contractor has both the knowledge and experience that is required in order to be licensed by the state contractor’s license board. The license testing between a solar contractor and an electrical or general contractor is a vast difference. Even though an electrician or general contractor can install a solar system, they have not been tested by the state licensing board in all aspects that are involved with your solar installation. So, in a nutshell, your solar contractor has much more experience and knowledge in this specialized field.
In addition to being properly licensed, contractors must demonstrate that they have special knowledge about installing PV systems.
